Vehicle Purchase Plan for ARWA members
There are just a few steps in this plan. It really doesn't get much simpler than this. This is a no-haggling program where you don't have to deal with the dealer's sales people. You deal directly with the Fleet Sales Managers. The pricing is tough to beat, unless you're one of those tough negotiators who enjoys the give-and-take of vehicle purchasing. If that's the case, you should check out the ARWA/NRWA Fleet Purchase Plan, another program for ARWA Members where deep discounts from the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) aren't just a hope: they're a reality!
-
Browse the vehicles in stock at Anchorage Chrysler Dodge. We recommend visiting the Anchorage Chrysler Dodge website: www.anchoragechrysler.com. There you can see all the new and used vehicles currently in stock, along with the current MSRP and the window sticker for each.
- If you go to the dealer to look at the vehicles in stock, you're going to be approached by the sales persons. The sales persons do not have access to this program's pricing. Only the Fleet Managers do. Since only the fleet managers have access to this pricing plan, you'll need to tell the sales person that you're there to see either Chris Thorpe or Bob Pond, the Fleet Managers. Contact information for them is at the bottom of this page.
- You will probably want to browse the vehicles on line or at the dealer's lot before giving the fleet managers a call. They are not paid on commission on sales under this plan, so they can not spend time walking the lot. If you find the vehicle you want with the options you want, the fleet managers will be happy to arrange a test drive.
- If you haven't yet received your membership card in the mail, call us before going to the dealership so we can call the fleet managers to verify your membership.
- Find the dealer invoice price. Again, this is something you can get pretty close to on the Internet. While the fleet sales manager will show you that price, you can also go to the Kelley Blue Book website at www.kbb.com and find a pretty close approximation. Remember to add in the options to the basic model of each vehicle. Please note that some options, such as remote starters and mud flaps, might not be found on the Kelley Blue Book site. You might not find the exact dealer invoice price on line, but it will give you a good ballpark figure to use as a basis for determining about what your vehicle will cost you.
- Add 1.7 % to the dealer price. That's the markup the dealer will put on your vehicle. For those of you who aren't holding a calculator right now, on a $30,000 dealer invoice, the mark up is $510.
- Add the dealer prep fee (usually about $600). The dealer charges this on all vehicles, new and used.
- Subtract any current rebates. That’s your cost for the vehicle! You can find current rebates on 2005 vehicles at: http://www.carbuytip.com/auto-rebates/index.html. When you subtract the rebate from the dealer invoice after markup, you might actually buy the vehicle for below dealer invoice!
- Let us know how you do! If you are buying a vehicle under one of our purchase plans, please call us and let us know. If you're buying one in Anchorage, let us know when you're picking it up and we'll come over and take a picture so we can post it here on our web site (with your permission, of course). If you buy one from a dealer outside Anchorage, please let us know how much you saved on the purchase, and send us a digital photo of you and your vehicle if you can!
For a couple examples of the savings available under this program, click on this highlighted text. Remember, though, the vehicles shown in the example may not be available when you view the example. The examples are based on actual in-stock vehicles at Anchorage Chrysler Dodge during January 2005. They are shown only to give you an idea of the type of savings from retail that you might see under this sales program.
